Passing of a Friend to Skating – Joe Tarvis

Joseph “Joe” G. Tarvis, age 71, of Fall River passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 in the Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation – Highlander, Fall River.

He was born in Fall River, the son of the late Manuel and Loretta (Fairhurst) Tarvis. He was a graduate of Joseph Case High School. He was a lifelong Swansea resident. Mr. Tarvis was an Artistic Roller Skating and Figure Skating Instructor for over 30 years. He had been previously employed at the former Gray Chevrolet, Swansea and also a bus driver for the Swansea Council on aging .

He was member of the National Roller Skating Association of America, the Cedar Cove Club, Swansea and an avid boating enthusiast.

He was predeceased by his brother John Tarvis. Joseph is survived by his dear friends; Anthony DaPonte of Warren, Nancy Hall of Fall River, Bernadette Huck of Swansea, Arthur Allard of Somerset, Robert Caton and his wife Amanda of Swansea and Joe Carvalho of Dartmouth.

His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 05, 2016 at 12PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Birchcrest, 189 Gardner’s Neck Road, Swansea. Visiting hours prior to his service from 10AM to 12PM. Contributions in his honor may be made to Swansea Council on Aging, 260 Ocean Grove Ave, Swansea, MA 02777.
